Don Schwarcz is a founding partner of SRSA Commercial Real Estate and one of the leading and most experienced retail brokers in the region. Schwarcz specializes in the leasing and selling of shopping centers, tenant site selection representation, commercial land sales, shopping center development, and build to suit negotiations. With 37 years experience, he is actively involved in the brokerage of retail leases and sales as well as providing consultation in the design, leasing and sale of retail properties.

Schwarcz's real estate career began in 1974 when he joined the leasing staff of Sizeler Realty, at the time one of the largest developers of retail projects in the Gulf South. For almost five years he negotiated leases for three regional malls and a variety of neighborhood and community shopping centers. He was involved in pre-leasing efforts for to-be-built projects as well as re-leasing negotiations in existing shopping centers.

In 1978, Schwarcz joined the commercial brokerage staff of Latter & Blum where until 1988, he was vice president and director of the retail division. In 1979 he created a separate division of the L&B commercial division to specialize in retail brokerage. Under his direction, the L&B commercial sales staff increased from two agents to over 25 agents and support personnel. The division produced an average of 230 leases each year from 1983-1987, accounting for 1,000,000 square feet of retail space leased as well as the sale of tens of millions of dollars in shopping centers, land and commercial buildings.

In 1988, Schwarcz joined the team of John Kushner and Associates, Inc. as the vice president of retail leasing. He participated in the planning, design and pre-leasing for retail developments in New Orleans, Southern California and Oklahoma.

Schwarcz has been increasingly active in the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and served as Louisiana State Director for the organization. In 2009, he chaired the Gulf South Idea Exchange held in New Orleans and hosted by the ICSC. He is a licensed real estate broker in Louisiana and Mississippi.

Schwarcz holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology and an MBA from Tulane University.
